The Very Best

This is, easily, one of my favorite runs in this entire challenge. My team was wonderful, and every member of my Champion squad won my heart. There are some unfortunate losses, as always, but overall, this run was a delight. Though... I maybe overused Kanto 'Mons for this run... oh well lol.

Typhlosion

White-hot the Typhlosion, level 65, Champion

F, starter Pokemon in New Bark Town

My wonderful statistical anomaly. In addition to being a female starter, a 1/5 chance, near the end of Johto, I went to heal after some grinding and found out she had POKERUS... insane shit. Gen 2 Typhlosion is incredible; with access to Thunderpunch, she really covered a lot of ground on the team, including covering her own weakness to water. White-hot was the backbone of this whole team, and I'm so infinitely glad she made it to the end.

Rattata

Rat-trap the Rattata, level 12

F, caught on Rt 30

Oh, Rat-trap... she only made it one gym before getting KO'd by a random trainer's Goldeen. I'm bummed I didn't get to use a Raticate, but nothing I can do about it now, eh?

Crobat

Bloodlettr the Crobat, level 65, Champion

M, caught in Dark Cave

My spooky, spooky, speedy boy! Bloodlettr started the run as obvious deadweight, as all Zubats do, but after he got Bite and Wing Attack and started evolving, he really became a solid killer. The highlight of his perfomance was undoubtedly him taking out Lance's Gyarados, a 'Mon I had no answer for, with Confuse Ray and Fly. He even utilized Giga Drain to great effect. A great showing for one of my favorite Pokemon.

Wooper

Slipskin the Wooper, level 16

F, caught on Rt 32

I was so saaaad about this one... I love, love, love Wooper and Quagsire, but poor Slipskin missed a Slam on Rival's Croconaw, and that was it for her.

Paras

Spores the Paras, level 21

M, caught in Ilex Forest

Another death I'm very sad about... I adore Parasect, and was looking forwards to using Spores in this playthrough. He hung around for quite a while, helping to take down Whitney's Miltank and the Kimono Girl's Umbreon, but I was too eager to evolve him, and he got KO'd by a Mr. Mime... goodnight, sweet mushroom prince.

Hypno

NiteTerror the Hypno, level 65, Champion

M, caught on Rt 34

I'm actually a HUGE Hypno fan, stemming from, ironically, an old Nuzlocke of Soul Silver. NiteTerror was just as reliable and fun to use as that Hypno. He landed his Hypnosises consistantly, I finally got to utilize Nightmare on a build, and he filled a niche on the team by carrying Ice Punch. Even having to carry Confusion for so long, he was a great team member and very helpful for targets I didn't know what to do with.

Nidoqueen

Matriarch the Nidoqueen, level 65, Champion

F, caught on Rt 35

Probably the least memorable member of the team for me, but by no means a bad one. Nidoqueen's good type, general bulk, and versatile moveset came in handy a lot, even though by the end game she was mostly an Earthquake machine. I always knew I could switch her into something that hit hard, and Icy Wind came in a surprising amount of times when NiteTerror was otherwise in use.

Kingler

Carapace the Kingler, level 65, Champion

F, fished up in Olivine City

Admittedly, I'd never used a Kingler before this run, and I wasn't expecting much, between Kingler's less than impressive Special Attack, and her gender meaning her Attack DV wasn't very impressive. However, Carapace blew my expectations out of the water. She hit Returns like a truck, Surf rarely if ever didn't OHKO whatever she was fighting, and she hit a SHOCKING amount of Guillotines. She also carried the Pink Bow almost all the time, which is a very cute image lol. I've been made a Kingler believer.

Persian

HighRoller the Persian, level 65, Champion

M, caught on Rt 32

HighRoller needed to do two things- use Headbutt, and later Slash, and use Shadow Ball, and he did both those things extremely well. Even if he had to go against something strong and bulky, he carried Screech to make sure he could kill. Sometimes pre-Physical/Special split games can make some 'Mons really frustrating to use, but sometimes they can work in a Pokemon's favor instead.

Final Thoughts

While I, again, probably could've stood to use some more Johto Pokemon in this run than I did, I can't bring myself to regret it when this was one of my favorite teams to use I've ever put together. I adore this whole team, and it even gave me a better appreciation for a Pokemon I've never cared about before. Unfortunately, the next run will not be so fun...
